Visiting application
Inmates in Copenhagen Prisons are entitled to one visit per week. Inmates incarcerated in Copenhagen Prisons for more than six months can apply for two weekly visits.
Procedure when you want to visit an inmate:
Inmates must send a visiting application form to each
visitor.
Visiting minors also need a separate visiting order. Children must
always be accompanied by an adult (under 15 years). The visitor and
the inmate are responsible for the child during the visit.
The applicant(visitor) must fill in the application form and send it to:
| Københavns
Fængsler (Copenhagen Prisons) Besøgsafdelingen (Visiting Centre) Vigerslev Allé 1D 2450 København SV (Copenhagen SV) |
The visiting centre will review the application and among other things check the applicant's criminal record.
If a request is denied, a written refusal including the grounds for refusal will be sent to the applicant. The inmate will also be notified of the refusal, but not the reason for refusal.
The usual processing time for visiting applications is five to six weekdays.
Visiting relatives living abroad
Visiting relatives living abroad do not need a
visiting application but must show passport and ticket as
documentary validation. You also have to send a police
clearance certificate in advance from the country where you reside,
or have it with you. (translated into english)
It is very important that you contact us and book a visit before travelling to Denmark!
